FOCUS ON WHAT MATTERS MOST

“Busy ako!

I don’t have time to think about goals, plans and dreams. Dreams are for the rich.

Maybe when I got enough money then I will start thinking about that!”

Is that you?

I heard from a conversation podcast of Tony Robbins and Gary Vaynerchuk that people who are busy are the ones who have time. Let me repeat that.

People who are truly busy always have the time.

When I added the Financial Literacy volunteering in POLO-OWWA their first requirement is to free up my Sundays. Either a morning session (9am to 1pm) or an afternoon one ( 2pm to 5pm).

My initial reaction was I am very busy on Sundays but then I went back to the “Busy people have time” conversation of Tony and Gary.

So I told Jalilo dela Torre (Labor Attache at that time) OK.

I will free up my Sunday.

How did I do that?

People don’t have problems with having time, people have problems with priority.

Make a list of your priorities.

Strictly cut all except 10 priorities in order of importance

and then do the 80/20 Rule.

Here’s an example:

1. Spend Time with Family

2. Exercise (If you love to exercise then ikaw na!!)

3. Do what I love

4. Help others

5. Fill in the blank...

If you are having difficulty to write something down. Here’s a guide

Spend time with Family

Do what you love

Help others

These three are my main categories to put in my list.

Say spending time with family would be hugging and kissing my wife when I open my eyes instead of looking at my phone or facebook or open the tv or email.

You don’t need to go it like I do.

Some people start with small wins. They start the day with making up the bed.

I do that with my daughter with a checklist of

Fix the bed ✅

Weewee ✅

Hilamos ✅

Mumog ✅

Paaraw ✅ (before 10am)

water break

Kain ✅ breakfast

Paaraw and Kain are interchangeable depends if it’s before 10am

Ligo ✅

Aral ✅

11am water break

This teaches her priorities at the moment of waking up.

And the first

Then make a list of at least 5 to 10 people in your priority list.

For example:

1. My wife

2. My daughter

3. My son

4. Mamu—my mother

5. My friend/s I always see at work

6. friend

7. friend

8. My immediate supervisor

9. My Friday night session attendees

10. My attendees in POLO-OWWA
